Apprenticeship FAQs
Is the apprenticeship nationally recognised?
Yes, the apprenticeship is recognised nationally.
How much does the apprenticeship cost?
For all NSW-based students, this training is fee free and fully subsidised by the NSW Government.
For ACT-based students, the Government funding covers the majority, but not all, of the costs. The deficit is made up through course fees and other funding that is invoiced to your employer each semester. The total course fees (i.e.; the funding component not covered by the ACT Government) are detailed in the table below:
Qual Code Qualification Title Course Fee UEE30820 Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician $1,980 UET30621 Certificate III in ESI – Distribution Overhead $7,670 UET30821 Certificate III in ESI – Distribution Underground $32,375 How long does the apprenticeship go for?
The apprenticeship lasts for a total of 4 years. For the first three years, you will be required to work four days on site to gather on-the-job experience, and one day undertaking technical studies. The fourth year will consist of only on-the-job training.
Can I apply as a mature age apprentice?
NECA Electrical Apprenticeships is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applicants over 21 years of age to apply for employment as adult apprentices, however due to the vast variance between the wage rates for adult apprentices and junior apprentices, NECA will only offer employment to suitable adult apprentices if a host employer is willing to employ and pay the higher wage rates.
How does the sign up process work?
NECA Training and Apprenticeships has partnered with Busy AT Work who sign up all of our apprentices and compete their registration.
