*A Certificate III level qualification that must relate directly to the work carried out. Note: the qualification must be issued to you under a training package in accordance with the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF).
If you are unsure if you are eligible please contact Fair Trading directly.
Limit of work permitted under Disconnect – Reconnect certification
Certified work is limited to the disconnection and reconnection of electrical wiring at the equipment itself and only to the extent necessary to permit the non-electrical work to be performed, allowing for the replacement of equipment on a like-for-like basis.
It also includes the testing necessary for the safe isolation/operation of the equipment and the replacement of blown fuses and resetting of tripped circuit breakers associated with the work.
Equipment that can be disconnected and reconnected is limited to voltages up to 1000V AC three phase and 1500V DC and cannot be complex electrical apparatus e.g. medical imaging equipment.
For example, this certification would allow someone holding a plumbing endorsed license or qualified supervisor certificate to replace an entire domestic electric hot water system but would not allow them to replace the element or thermostat in the electric hot water system.
