As technology advances at breakneck speed, convergence continues to dominate the landscape, with skilled resources, especially in the electrical industry looking to expand their capabilities into new, complimentary areas. The cabling environment, especially in the area of telecom, has dramatically changed in recent years. With new technology driving specialized solutions, the need for more sophisticated/advanced technicians (with greater, more comprehensive skills) is constantly growing. Standards are changing exponentially with each adoption of these evolving applications, in an environment that has always been, contrarily, heavily regulated. It is therefore critical to ensure that the training necessary in these areas will meet all of these requirements, as well as grow and adapt to the everchanging, ever-growing services demanded by this evolution, like the rollout, for example, of the NBN network.
Due to ongoing demand and responding to the ever-changing needs of the industry, our new facility in Chullora is state of the art, providing the latest, digital and IP equipment and HANDS-ON training by subject matter experts, delivering top-skill technical resources to (support the success) meet the needs of Australia’s advancing/progressive/innovative businesses/enterprises.
This facility is designed to deliver telecommunications training to students who wish to gain the ACMA registration. NECA Training identified a need to build a lab-type facility that would not only upskill technicians in the telecommunications industry in Australia, but provide a pathway for the cabler into the digital age.
Traditionally the electrical and communications cablers have concentrated on open registration and endorsements. NECA has crafted/designed a skillset aimed at the convergence of cabling and equipment and provides an excellent pathway for both types of cablers to build on their expertise by acquiring telecom-specific skills. The NECA skillset also includes basic IP, equipment installation and network fault location, to close the gap between the cabler and the equipment / IT installer. The result is a more valuable technical asset/resource with up-to-date best practices, better workplace outcomes and improved productivity.
